Ontario Backflow Prevention Association

The Ontario Backflow Prevention Association (OBPA) is a non-profit organization comprised of professionals dedicated to protecting Ontario's drinking water quality through education and technical assistance, and is committed to advancing all aspects of backflow prevention for the continued protection of all water users.

Robert is currently the President of OBPA and is looking to volunteer at their parent organization (American Backflow Prevention Association). Murray and Cameron are also active volunteers working to educate and inform the public about water quality issues and requirements.

Ontario Water Works Association

Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA) is a voluntary organization of water professionals, dedicated to protecting public health through the delivery of safe, sufficient, and sustainable drinking water in Ontario. The Ontario Water Works Association provides leadership in water management through education, innovation, continual improvements in customer relations, science and technology, and by participating in the development of government policy.

All ProActive team members have the OWWA Cross Connection Control license. In addition, as the chair of the OWWA Cross Connection Control Certification subcommittee, Murray is working to develop the National Cross Connection Control Surveyors course and is among the leaders in backflow prevention within the province.

Ontario Food Protection Association

The Ontario Food Protection Association (OFPA) provides a common forum for those associated with food safety in the food industry and enables those interested in food safety to exchange ideas, experiences and information. It sponsors and organizes meetings to inform members of new and improved methods in the safe hygienic production, transportation and processing and sale of food products.

Recognizing the connection between water safety and food safety and noticing a lack of knowledge or understanding of backflow prevention among food producers, the ProActive team are involved in helping the OFPA educate food producers about the issues.
